The jubilee fifteenth cycle of the international short film festival MikroFAF will be held from December 19 to 21 at the Balkan Cinema in Belgrade in a fresh edition on several fields. After the inclusion of young volunteers-interns in the months-long process of organizing the festival, which included practical tasks, workshops with experts and participation in the Anibar festival from Peja, we believe that this year’s result of that endeavor leads to the strengthening of the independent film scene, the progress of short films and mutual inspiration among generations.
During the three festival days, visitors will have the opportunity to watch 52 short films in the competition program, as well as to vote for their favorite production. As many as 11 selectors devoted themselves to the creation of a program consisting of films of different genres and types from 12 countries, divided into 4 categories (Independent film, Do-it-yourself/DIY film, Student film and Junior film).
Our team has also created a dynamic follow-up program. On Friday, the feature film “Next to You” by Stevan Filipović will be shown, while on Saturday our partner – the international animated film festival Anibar – will present their fifteen years of work and a selection of movies. On Saturday, an animation workshop will be held at KC Magacin in Kraljevića Marka, intended for high school students.
The festival jury, consisting of Ivana Todorović, Granit Karagjyzi, and Predrag Terzić, will award Mikroplis statues and special awards on Saturday evening, while the youth jury, consisting of Anja Bilanović, Lazar Živković and Sado Music, will also have their say. They will reward one junior film, as well as award a special Fresh Frames award to the film that inspired and moved them the most.
Many creative processes followed the work on the 15th MikroFAF project, and we believe this will be recognized in its three-day finale. We invite all lovers of short form, untamed film, and artistic freedom to join us during the festival’s anniversary. Entrance is free. Welcome!
15th MikroFAF is implemented with the support of the Western Balkan Youth Cultural Fund. This multi-year project is supported by the German Federal Foreign Office and implemented by the Regional Youth Cooperation Office – RYCO.
